جائزة الأمير طلال الدولية:
1,000,000 دولار أمريكي للمساهمة في القضاء على الجوع
أعلنت لجنة جائزة الأمير طلال الدولية للتنمية البشرية أن “القضاء على الجوع وتوفير الأمن الغذائي والتغذية المحسّنة وتعزيز الزراعة المستدامة”، وهو الهدف الثاني من أهداف التنمية المستدامة 2030، سيكون موضوع الجائزة للعام 2020 وذلك إسهاما في الجهود المبذولة للحد من تداعيات جائحة كوفيد-19.
وفقاً للأمم المتحدة و برنامج الغذاء العالمي، هناك اليوم أكثر من 820 مليون شخص يخلدون إلى النوم وهم جائعين، منهم حوالي 135 مليون يعانون من الجوع الحاد بسبب صراعاتٍ من صنع الإنسان، وبسبب تغير المناخ والانكماش الاقتصادي إلى حدٍ كبير. ويمكن لجائحة كوفيد-19 الآن مضاعفة هذا الرقم، مما يعرّض 130 مليون شخص إضافي لخطر المعاناة من الجوع الحاد بحلول نهاية عام 2020.
والتنافس على الجائزة متاح وفق الفروع الأربعة التالية:
الفرع الأول ( 400 ألف دولار)، مخصصة لمشروعات المنظمات الأممية و الدولية والإقليمية.
الفرع الثاني ( 300 ألف دولار)، مخصصة لمشاريع الجمعيات الأهليـة الوطنية.
الفرع الثالث (200 ألف دولار)، مخصصة لمشاريع الجهات الحكومية، والمؤسسات العامة ومؤسسات الأعمال الاجتماعية والمؤسسات الخيرية
الفرع الرابع ( 100 ألف دولار)، مخصصة للمشاريع التي بادر بها أو يقودها الأفراد
ودعت اللجنة مراكز البحوث والجامعات والمنظمات والجمعيات والمؤسسات الخيرية إلى تقديم الترشيحات على الرابط: https://agfund.org/ar/
حيث أن آخر موعد لاستقبال الترشيحات هو يوم الثلاثاء 15 ديسمبر 2020.
وأعربت لجنة الجائزة برئاسة الأمير عبد العزيز بن طلال بن عبد العزيز في إجتماعها الأخير أنه استناداً على توجه اللجنة بربط موضوعات الجائزة مع أهداف التنمية المستدامة فإن اختيار موضوع العام 2020 جاء بعد دراسة مدى تأثير جائحة كوفيد-19 على الأهداف بشكل عام. و بناءً على ذلك تم إختيار الهدف الثاني “القضاء التام على الجوع” موضوعا لجائزة هذا العام للبحث عن المشاريع التنموية المبتكرة والتي ستساهم في زيادة الإنتاجية الزراعية والإنتاج الغذائي المستدام للتخفيف من مخاطر الجوع.
وأطلق برنامج الخليج العربي للتنمية ( أجفند) جائزة الأمير طلال الدولية للتنمية البشرية في العام 1999 لحفز الإبداع والابتكار في التنمية، ونشر وتعميم التجارب التنموية الناجحة، ولتكون الجائزة أسلوباً للدعم التنموي.
وتضم لجنة الجائزة صاحب السمو الملكي الأميرعبدالعزيز بن طلال رئيسا و عدداً من الشخصيات التنموية البارزة التي تمثل قارات العالم وهم: جلالة الملكة صوفيا، ممثلة لقارة أوروبا، والسنيورة مرسيدس مينافرا، والسيدة الأولى سابقا في الأورجواي ممثلة لقارتي أمريكا الجنوبية والشمالية، ومعالي الدكتور أحمد محمد علي، الرئيس السابق لمجموعة البنك الإسلامي للتنمية، ممثلا للمنطقة العربية، والبروفيسور محمد يونس، الفائز بجائزة نوبل للسلام ومؤسس بنك جرامين، ممثلا لقارة آسيا، والدكتور يوسف سيد عبدالله، المدير العام السابق لصندوق أوبك للتنمية الدولية، ممثلا لقارة أفريقيا.
Prince Talal International Prize:
US$ 1,000,000 to contribute to Zero Hunger
The Committee of Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development announced that “Eliminating hunger, providing food security and improved nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture”, the second goal of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, is the Prize subject for the year 2020. Selecting this subject comes as a contribution to the efforts that aim to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the United Nations and the World Food Programme,” Today, more than 820 million people regularly go to bed hungry, of whom about 135 million suffer from acute hunger largely due to man-made conflicts, climate change and economic downturns. The COVID-19 pandemic could now double that number, putting an additional 130 million people at risk of suffering of acute hunger by the end of 2020.”
The Prize Committee, chaired by Prince Abdul Aziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, expressed, at its last meeting, that based on the committee’s approach to align the subjects of the Prize with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the selection of the year 2020 subject was made after analyzing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the SDG’s in general. Accordingly, the second goal “Zero Hunger” was chosen as the subject of this year’s Prize to award the innovative development projects that will contribute alleviate the perils of hunger by increasing agricultural productivity and sustainable food production.
Nominations are now open for the four categories as shown below:
– The First Category (US$ 400,000) is for projects nominated by UN, international, and regional organizations.
-The Second Category (US$ 300,000) is for projects nominated by national NGOs.
– The Third Category (US$ 200,000) is for projects nominated by government bodies, public institutions, and Social Business enterprises/Foundations.
– The Fourth Category (US$ 100,000) is for projects initiated or led by individuals.
The Committee invites the research centers, universities, organizations, associations and Foundations to submit the nominations on the link: https://agfund.org/ . The deadline for receiving nominations is Tuesday 15 December 2020.
AGFUND has established Prince Talal International Prize to become a leading mechanism to identify successful human development projects, reward them and disseminate their innovative ideas to best contribute human development.
The Committee of the prize is chaired by H.R.H. Prince Abdul Aziz bin Talal with memberships of prominent figures in development; Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain as the representative of Europe; Mrs. Mercedes Menafra, the former First Lady of Uruguay, as the representative of the Americas; H.E. Dr. Ahmed Muhammed Ali, the former president of the Islamic Development Bank Group, as the representative of the Arab Region, Professor Muhammed Yunus, a Noble Peace Prize Laureate and founder of Grameen Bank, as the representative of Asia; and Dr. Yusuf Sayed Abdullah, the former Director- General of the OPEC Fund for International Development, as the representative of Africa.
